Cancer ablation

Image guided ablation is a relatively new treatment modality for patients with cancer. There are numerous indications but lesions within the lung, liver and kidneys are the most commonly treated.

In our practice in Durban we currently offer RFA and microwave ablation and welcome any enquiry about these treatments.
The main advantages are:

  • Minimally invasive- can be performed via a ‘pinhole’ incision
  • Quick and accurate using imaging guidance
  • Faster recover and less risks than open surgery
